Basic Function
Responsible for all sales activities in an assigned geographical area while the Ferring employee is out on a temporary leave of absence for approximately 2 months but less than 6 months. Achieve maximum sales volume through promotion of Ferring Products to physicians, pharmacists, wholesalers, hospitals, clinics, and other approved distribution outlets
Nature and Scope
The Specialist reports to the Associate Director of Sales Training, with some responsibility to the local District Manager while on assignment. The incumbent operates within an assigned geographical territory actively promoting the sales of Ferring products by regularly contacting customers who utilize Ferring products. The incumbent must maintain sound professional relationships and enhance the company’s image through conduct in a professional manner. The incumbent must demonstrate competent sales ability, communication ability, and accurate field reporting.
The incumbent will be trained to represent Ferring products. The incumbent will cover the Ferring employee’s territory while s/he is out due to a temporary leave of absence for 2 months, but no more than 9 months. The incumbent will receive an hourly rate and will be reimbursed for mileage and standard business expenses (lunches for physician offices, etc.).
Principal Responsibilities:
• Promote and sell Ferring products to maintain or exceed established sales quotas
• Contact, on a regular basis, present and prospective customers including physicians, clinics, hospitals, pharmacies, wholesalers, resident and fellowship programs
• Established and maintain interactive relationship with Managed Care team, home office staff and the MSL team
• Establish and maintain an effective relationship with physicians, nurses, ancillary personnel, pharmacists, laboratory personnel, administrators, to provide information and sell Ferring products
• Submit complete timely reports (sales, market information, competitive activity, promotional ideas and technical inquiries) to either District Manager or appropriate home office personnel
• Maintain sales by providing customer service as outlined in field sales plan
• Control expenses within a defined budget; maintain and protect assigned company property
• Maintain communication with other representatives, the region and corporate headquarters with respect to sales issues, sales and marketing ideas, and competitive information
• Transition all leads and territory developments to returning Ferring employee when she returns from maternity leave
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree (life science, nursing, business preferred), or equivalent experience
• Minimum two years related sales experience
• Experience in one of the following therapeutic areas mandatory: urology, orthopaedic, rheumatology, oncology
• Excellent communication and written skills
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Above average analytical skills
• Travel requirements approximately 10%
• Demonstrated track record in a sales environment
